Shirley (Sally & Don S.)

On the morning of Saturday, April 17th, you picked up our sweet Shirley from Hillside Animal Hospital after she had crossed the rainbow bridge. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you for assisting us on this journey.  What you do mustn't be easy, but it sure made our grief just a tiny bit easier to bear.

Shirley was rescued off the streets of East St. Louis back in 2007/2008 with a gunshot wound to her right front leg. When she was rescued, she went immediately into a foster home where she had time to receive treatment for a diagnosed cancer, as well as recover from the loss of her leg after it was amputated.  Shirley was thought to be 2 years old in 2008, so as you can see our Shirley had a wonderfully long life.

Shirley was a gentle warrior, always pushing forward and always giving and receiving nothing but love and devotion to her people and to our cat, Chester.

She continued to be a survivor, and even beat two episodes of vestibular disease and also learned how to live with arthritis.

She loved car rides, walks in the park, veggie dogs, French toast, laying on her blanket out in the sun, and even enjoyed running and chasing rabbits once upon a time.

Thank you again for all you do.
